The University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE) was established in 1175 and is the third oldest University in Europe. UNIMORE is a networked campus in the towns of Modena and Reggio Emilia Italy, with more than 20000 students, including 3500 postgraduates, 900 faculty members, 8 PhD schools, 14 departments and 11 inter-departmental research centres.
UNIMORE participates in MINERVA with the AImageLab research group, an internationally recognized research lab of the Department of Engineering “Enzo Ferrari” (DIEF) and of the Artificial Intelligence Research and Innovation Center (AIRI), devoted to AI,ML, Computer Vision, NLP, Robot-human Interaction and Multimedia. It has more than 40 researchers and PhD students, it is active in several EU projects and it is one of the four Italian ELLIS Units in conjunction with CINECA. AImageLab is devoted to foundational research in AI and its applications in surveillance, robotics and health: in the last three years it has been active in 7 EU projects: PERSEO, ELISE, HUMANE-AI-NET, DECIDER, DEEP HEALTH, ECSEL and ELSA.
Within MINERVA, UNIMORE leads WP5 and contributes to several tasks, especially in WP2, WP3 and WP4, bringing to the project their expertise in foundational research, multimodal visual/language understanding and generation and competence in training.
