Purpose of data processing and types of data processed
Data Voluntarily Provided by Users
Personal data provided directly by users through email messages sent to the addresses published on the MINERVA website will be used solely to fulfill the request for information or activate the requested service. This data is shared with third parties only when necessary to achieve these purposes.
Browsing Data
During its normal operation, the computer systems and software used to operate this website automatically acquire certain data as part of internet communication protocols. This information is not collected to be associated with identified individuals, but it could potentially identify users through processing and association with data held by third parties. This category of data includes IP addresses or domain names of computers used by users connecting to the site, URI addresses (Uniform Resource Identifier: a string that uniquely identifies a resource such as a web address, document, or file), the time of the request, the method used to submit the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in response, the numerical code indicating the status of the server’s response (successful, error, etc.), and other parameters related to the user’s operating system and computer environment (such as the browser used).
On the contrary, our system does not collect user identities upon login.
This data is strictly used in aggregate form, never personalized, for statistical analysis of user behavior to understand how visitors interact with the site and gauge interest in different pages. This enables MINERVA partners to enhance and streamline site content.
These statistics serve the sole purpose of anonymously gathering information on site usage and verifying its proper functioning, retained for the necessary period as defined in this policy. If necessary, this data may be used to establish liability in cases of computer crimes affecting our site, in accordance with legal requirements. It’s important to clarify that the use of navigation data and cookies does not involve “user profiling,” a technique aimed at gathering consumer information to target promotional campaigns and sales offers.
Legal basis of data processing
The processing of personal data collected adheres to the principles of fairness, lawfulness, transparency, data minimization, and confidentiality protection. Therefore, the legal bases for data processing are as follows:
- for data voluntarily sent by the User to the email addresses provided on MINERVA website, processing is conducted to enable the Data controller to provide services to the User. The legal basis for this processing is Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR. Providing personal data for these purposes is optional, but failure to do so would prevent the activation of requested services. Cineca advises users against including unnecessary personal data in such requests.
- for navigation data and cookies, processing is based on fulfilling legal obligations and pursuing MINERVA partners legitimate interests (Article 6, par. 1-c and f, of the GDPR).
Recipients of the data
The recipients of the data collected from consulting the aforementioned sites or sending emails are the Data controller (Cineca) and any Data processors appointed by the Data controller. Additionally, authorized personnel within MINERVA consortium who process the data for the stated purposes also have access.
Your personal data will not be disseminated to third parties.

Unless the data subject requests deletion of their personal data, the collected data will be retained for as long as necessary for the legitimate purposes for which it was collected.
