The Tübingen AI Center is a research facility at the University of Tübingen, Germany, in cooperation with the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems. The goal of the researchers is to advance reliable learning systems for the benefit of society and the economy. The Tübingen AI Center is home to 25 research groups with more than 300 scientists. As part of the recently founded ELIAS Alliance, they work together with other researchers in Europe to contribute to societally valuable technologies as “AI made in Europe”. The Center works closely with the ELLIS Institute Tübingen and Cyber Valley. It is funded by the Ministry of Research of Baden-Württemberg and the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.
The Tübingen AI Center contributes to MINERVA its expertise in artificial intelligence, foundation models, and high-performance computing (HPC). It is responsible for designing and delivering HPC training courses focused on large-scale AI model training and data management, with content tailored to both beginners and advanced users. These courses will evolve alongside technological advances and be aligned with international standards.
Further, the Tübingen AI Center supports benchmarking and performance analysis of large AI models, helping to create a catalogue of ethically compliant datasets and tools for public use. The center also contributes to best-practice guidelines for data sharing and model deployment across HPC centers. Through close collaboration with institutions like Forschungszentrum Jülich and involvement in the Cyber Valley ecosystem, Tübingen strengthens the project’s technical and educational foundation.
